Complete reference for the collector or seller, with 1053 photographs, including many photos of back views and marks of the jewelry, this book is based on the antiques publication column of the same name, which began in February 1997. The monthly column features in depth information pertinent to collectors of vintage costume jewelry, such as designers and companies, types of jewelry such as Christmas tree pin and fruit jewelry, topics such as fakes and reproductions, and each column includes photos. The book contains 20 of these columns, along with information in chapters on companies and designers such as Volupté, Calvaire, Claudette, Juliana, Bogoff, Pebble jewelry and guilloche'. A special chapter on Hattie Carnegie details Ms. Carnegie’s life in New York as the owner of her own couture house, including a photo of her models and customers in the exclusive top-level showroom.
